Traffic
Full Tilt can have as many as 60,000 players at the real-money tournment tables and as many as 10,000 players at the cash ring game tables, at peak times. Most of the traffic at Full Tilt is collected around the Limit and No Limit Holdem tables with somewhat fewer players at Pot Limit Holdem tables and signifiantly fewer players other poker variants (like Omaha and Stud). Full Tilt Poker does have nice Micro-Limit and Low Limit tables, though, attracting a large proportion of the low-budget online poker player pool. Full Tilt Poker is a U.S.-friendly poker room.
Competition
Full Tilt players are known for being relatively tight players, even in lower stakes games, holding their cards close to their chest (so to speak). Players used to the competition at other poker sites may find it harder to slow-play their opponents into calling or raising without having the nuts. It is an easier bunch to bluff, however, as they're less likely to take risky chances. Of course, this also means that when an opponent on Full Tilt does go all-in, you know to be a bit extra wary. So overall tight-handed, though not necessarily always signalling a good quality of player. The looser competition, believe it or not, seems to be gathered around the Omaha tables. Some of the heaviest competition comes at the higher stakes tables and tournaments, and in the opportunities to occasionally compete against member of Team Full Tilt, celebrity poker pros like Phil Ivey and Howard Lederer.
Freerolls
Freerolls are a big deal at Full Tilt Poker, with over 500 freerolls per month--including 10 daily freerolls in No Limit Hold'em, Omaha Hi, Razz, and HORSE--and a minimum monthly prize pool from freerolls of $60,000.
Tournaments
Full Tilt offers both scheduled tournaments and Sit 'n Go tournaments alike in Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, 7-Card Stud, 7-Card Stud Hi/Lo, Razz, and HORSE. They also run frequent promotional tournaments, like regular Guaranteed Tournaments with huge guaranteed prize pools (ie. the $750K Sunday Guarantee), and they run satellites for most of the major high-stakes land-based tournaments (like the World Series of Poker and World Poker Tour events).
Software
Full Tilt offers real-money ring games in Lmit Holdem, Omaha (8 or Better and Hi/Lo), and Stud (and Hi/Lo); Pot-Limit Holdem, Omaha, and Omaha Hi/Lo, and No Limit Holdem and Omaha Hi/Lo. One of the greatest things about playing at Full Tilt is that this giant of online poker rooms has been around for so long, it's had all the time in the world to iron out all its kinks and get rid of all its bugs. That means you get smooth, sharp, uninterrupted play without the buggy trial and error and system crashes of poker software not yet so thoroughly time-tested and perfected. Also particularly exciting--and unique--about Full Tilt Poker's software is that it is one of the only poker sites with downloadable software for the Mac as well as the PC.
Most "Mac-Friendly" poker sites only give Mac-users the option of a scaled-down No Download version of their software in Flash or Java. But not Full Tilt. Here Mac users get the same easy navigability, breadth of games and stakes and limits, and other killer features (like mini-views for multi-tabling) as their PC-using opponents. Some players say they find the graphics somewhat "cartoonish" but we find it a refreshing break from the standard graphics at most other poker rooms. Lobby stats are pot size, percentage of players in at the Flop, and hands-per-hour.
